The pearl museum talks about the first person to successfully cultivate pearls, Mikimoto Kokichi, pearls, and pearl cultivation.
In the pearl plaza, adjacent to the museum, you can purchase a variety of jewellery made with pearls.

Born in Toba 1858, Mikimoto Kokichi became the first person to succesfully cultivate pearls in the year 1893. You can read more about Mikimoto's life story in the Mikimoto memorial hall, located on the island
